This presentation, organized by the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum (USF CAM) in association with their exhibition Sponge Exchange (January 13 – March 7), showcases artist and educator Hope Ginsburg and her focus on the sponge culture of Tarpon Springs, also known as “The Sponge Capital of the World.” Ginsburg’s work explores the local sponge industry, raises understanding about the health of marine life and its ties to the environment and the economy, and serves as a catalyst for future solutions. The presentation will be followed by Land Dive Team: Tarpon Springs, a related public performance event at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks at 6pm.
