Volunteers are an essential part of our daily operations. In fact, some have been with the museum since it opened to the public in 2002! If you’d like to get involved, here are some of the ways you can contribute:
Are you interested in working with LRMA’s art collections or at the LRMA Resource Center? As a volunteer in the Curatorial Department, your duties might include: collections management (cataloging, inventorying and handling art); exhibition preparation (cleaning, organizing, painting and other prep work) or assisting in the LRMA Resource Center (filing, shelving books and assisting guests).
Are you interested in becoming a docent (tour guide)? A comprehensive docent training course is offered approximately every three years. The course includes a survey of modern and contemporary art, an introduction to the museum and its collections and presentation techniques. In addition to giving museum tours, docents help with special events, conduct research, give special presentations, perform community outreach and assist SPC students with assignments. Contact LRMA Education Coordinator Patti Buster at email@example.com or (727) 712-5226 for further information.
Visitor Services Volunteers
Are you a people person? If so, you may be well-suited for a volunteer position in Visitor Services. Responsibilities include all aspects of the guest experience, including: greeting guests; processing admission fees; assisting students; collecting visitor data; explaining the benefits of becoming a museum member; and assisting visitors in Isabelle’s Museum Store. Individual and group training is provided periodically.
If you’re ready to share your time and talents as a LRMA volunteer, contact Beth Becker at firstname.lastname@example.org or 727-712-5227 for more information and to start the process.
Thank you – we can’t wait to meet you!
