LRMA showcases new work by St. Petersburg College visual arts full-time and adjunct faculty members, who, in addition to serving as educators, are practicing artists. This biennial exhibition offers an array of different styles, media, and two and three-dimensional work that showcases the breadth and expertise of SPC’s art faculty.
This year faculty members have taken their work in exciting new directions through opportunities in personal and professional artistic growth. Many faculty members developed new work over the summer, had the opportunity to travel, participated in nationally-renowned artist-in-residence programs, and some were awarded grants to bring major projects to completion. Others explored new ideas through inter-disciplinary themes that developed into multi-media installations in the LRMA galleries.
These important individuals are continuing a tradition at St. Petersburg College dating back to the 1950s: to prepare, shape, and inspire the next generation of artists. The College offers both Associate of Arts (AA) degrees, for transfer into advanced visual arts programs, and two-year Associate of Science (AS) degrees in graphic and digital arts, as well as photography technology. Courses taught at the College include drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, digital arts, and multimedia.
