WOMAN-MADE Printmaking Festival

Fine Arts Building and LRMA Galleries

FREE with Admission

This celebratory event recognizes the power of the female voice in art, enriches the exhibitions Louisa Chase: What Lies Beneath and Woman-Made: From the Collection, as well as honors Women’s History Month (March), International Women’s Day (March 8th), and the centennial of the 19th Ammendment Ratification giving women the right to vote.

Noted Tampa Bay female printmakers from the artist group 24 Hands, including Marjorie Greene Graff, Barbara Hubbard, and LRMA’s own Curator, Christine Renc-Carter, will demonstrate print processes, give talks about printmaking, and lead hands-on art activities throughout the event.

At 1:00pm, keynote speaker Andrew J. Saluti will present insights about Louisa Chase and her emergence and career as a printmaker. Saluti, an assistant professor in the School of Design at Syracuse University, is working on a Louisa Chase catalogue raisonne. Chase graduated from Syracuse with a BFA in 1973. Saluti also organized the recent retrospective exhibition of paintings and prints, Louisa Chase: Below the Surface.

Docent tours of the exhibition and light refreshments will be included.
